Print Your License Online
The ability to print South Dakota licenses online is now available. To print a license online, select "Print a license" in the left-hand column of this page. This service is free for up to 30 days after license approval and renewal for license applications and license renewals completed through Compliance Express. South Dakota License Numbers Changed in April 2007
Please note that producer license numbers no longer begin with SD- and leading zeros have been dropped. For example, license number SD-0001234567 will become 1234567. The new license numbers are also accessible through "Find your license number/NPN" link in the left-hand column.

South Dakota Resident Producer License Renewals
It is time to renew South Dakota resident producer insurance licenses. Renewals must be submitted electronically by April 30th or the license will be canceled. Please note that even though Compliance Express processes your renewal payment and provides you with confirmation of the transaction, if your CE requirements are not in compliance, the South Dakota Division of Insurance will put your renewal in a pending status until requirements are met. If all requirements are not met by the renewal due date, the license will be canceled.

Future renewal notices will only be sent by e-mail. Changes to your e-mail address can be made under Update Your Email Address to the left.

South Dakota Continuing Education Administrative Rule Amendments
Effective January 29, 2008, several amendments to the state's Continuing Education administrative rules were implemented:

1. Licensees are no longer required to submit certificates of course completions to the division of insurance.
2. The provider no longer has to keep a record of "certificates of completion" but must maintain a record of all continuing education offered for two years.
3. Licensees are now required to submit electronically the $20.00 continuing education renewal fee on or before April 30 instead of May 1 of each even-numbered year.
4. Resident and nonresident providers are now required to submit electronically the location and date of a previously approved course at least 14 days in advance of the course, if, at the time of initial filing, all dates and locations had not been determined.
5. All authorized education providers are required to submit electronic course completions through Sircon within 14 days of the conclusion of each class offering.
6. Resident and nonresident providers are now required to apply to the director for course approval electronically through Sircon's Compliance Express at www.sircon.com/login.
The complete administrative rules are available on the South Dakota web site at http://www.state.sd.us/drr2/reg/insurance/.

South Dakota Business Entity Licenses
Effective October 1, 2007, the Insurance Division discontinued the requirement that business entities obtain a registration from the Secretary of State prior to licensure. This does not eliminate any registration requirements with the Office of the Secretary of State. Each business entity is encouraged to contact the Secretary of State's office if they have any questions as to whether registration is required of that entity.

Free CE Transcript
You may now check the status of your continuing education compliance. For a free continuing education transcript, click on "Look up Education Courses/Credits" in the left-hand column and then click on "Continuing Education Transcript Inquiry."

License Profile
You may now obtain your own license profile by clicking on the Check Your Status with a State link to the left. Click here to see all of the information contained in the license transcript. A nominal service fee may apply.
